Ciudad Quesada is one hour by car (95 miles) north of the capital San José in the canton of San Carlos. A mere 48 miles from Orange this small city, little explored by tourists is on the plains of San Carlos and is known to be one of the most fertile agricultural areas of Costa Rica

Located in downtown Alajuela,San Carlos Ciudad Quesada is rich in natural beauty and green vegetation and is a center of production of meat and dairy products in the northern province. If you visit this city do not forget to try the delicious cheese fibrous. Located southwest of Arenal, this city is sitting on a rich fertile valley just 650 meters or 2138 feet above sea level.

It was named after the renowned poet Napoleon Quesada and driving to the valley, you can observe the spectacular and flourishing scenery of the lush, green fields. To get there take the Pan American Highway (Rt. 1) west of San Jose to the Naranjo exit and follow the road signs to the city. If you travel by bus, find enough bus routes from San Jose to Ciudad Quesada.

Very close to the Juan Castro Blanco National Park and an hour from Arenal Volcano, this city has an excellent climate with adequate services within the city including hospitals, colleges and universities. Here the transport infrastructure is also very good.

With a very friendly Tico population, this small town now has no tourist attractions. Siembargo, with its fresh clean air and beautiful mountains makes it a great escape from the bustle of the city. Many tourists visit Ciudad Quesada as this is the perfect whereabouts while visiting the surrounding region. Here also are many hotels. Lodgings and restaurants as well as the luxurious El Tucano & Spa Resort, just 8 km east of the city .
