Mountains and Volcanoes

Volcano Sandbank, Volcano Poas, Volcano Irazu, Volcano Turrialba, Volcano Corner of the Old woman. Costa Rica possesses 112 volcanoes, five of which are active, whose origin owes to the subducción of the badges Coconuts and Carib. The country and it is located inside the so-called “ belt of fire of the Pacific Ocean ”, which understands most of the volcanoes of the world.Of north to south, our country presents a series of mountainous formations, grouped in four mountain ranges: the mountain range of Guanacaste, the mountain range of Tilarán (these two located in the zone northwest of the country), the Central Mountain range and that of Talamanca. Of the four, the last one is the only one that does not possess volcanoes; but in her there are the highest mountainous formations of the country, included the Hill Chirripó, the highest point of the Costa Rican territory.
To some volcanoes, it is possible to come even much next to his crater; while for safety reasons, it is necessary to see others from a distance. But independently from that so close it is possible to come, they all offer particular characteristics that make them very interesting, as the crater of the Poás (the second biggest of the planet), the Irazú that has a crater from which it is possible to appreciate other of three craters that it possesses and the eruptions of the Sandbank (which cone is almost perfect) offer in the nights, in frequent form, the whole spectacle at sight; between others.
